Married grandfather near retirement
My wife and I have some driving vacations planned for next year, once I’m fully retired. We even bought a new car that’s a little more comfortable for those long days on the road.
Except it was stolen from our own driveway!
Since it was so new, and because we have Comprehensive coverage, it helped us pay to replace the stolen car. That was a big relief to both of us—and our road trip plans are still on schedule!

Married rookie dad
My wife and I had just gotten a late-model used car, the nicest either of us had ever owned. It wasn’t luxurious, but we loved it.
One day we were out doing errands and got caught in a hailstorm. We watched, horrified, as one dent after another appeared. It even broke the windshield.
We weren’t sure if our car insurance would cover damages like this, but then we discovered that’s what Comprehensive coverage is for. Filing our claim was pretty simple, and before long we had a check from Allstate for all the hail damage, minus just our deductible.

Single dad of two, going back to school
When I went back to school I never really thought twice about leaving my car on campus. Probably because I was driving an old clunker back then.
But last year I got a nice new SUV, and within a couple months, it got keyed ... twice! But both times my Comprehensive coverage covered everything over my deductible, which is great since I’m only leasing it.
Alice, 45
Single mother of two
I was coming out of my night class last summer and I couldn’t find my car. I must have spent at least an hour trying to find it—I was sure that I’d just forgotten where I parked.
Turns out, my car had been stolen! The police found it outside town completely gutted and stripped.
I was only responsible for the $500 Comprehensive coverage deductible, and the insurance company gave me a check for the actual cash value of the car.
Heather, 64
Widowed and retired
Last summer was so dry, but we also got huge storms that just about washed us all away.
One of those storms actually flooded my neighborhood—including my poor car. That was a first for me, and I didn’t know what to do other than call my Allstate agent. I wasn’t even sure my insurance would cover something like a flood.
I found out that this is exactly what my Comprehensive coverage is for. What a relief! With the money Allstate gave me, I was able to get my car fixed up good as new.

Married, no kids, buying her first home
Just last week I was at a movie with my husband and we came out of the theater to a scratched-up car. It had been keyed—and this is a brand new car we’re talking about!
We were furious, but it turns out our Comprehensive coverage took care of it, we just had to pay our deductible. Not that that makes us any less mad. But at least we aren’t mad and out a bunch of cash.

There are some things you only have to learn once. I’ll never park next to a construction site again, even if it means walking an extra mile.
Last summer I left my car downtown for the day and didn’t think much about where it was parked. I came back to a wreck of bricks and mangled metal. I was freaked out because it was technically my parents’ car, but their Comprehensive coverage handled the related repairs. My parents were responsible for the deductible, but that wasn’t a huge deal.

Young professional, just married and getting ready to move in with husband
A tree fell on my car. No, seriously! It was parked on the street last year during a bad thunderstorm, and the wind blew a huge branch down on top of it.
I didn’t know it at the time, but Comprehensive coverage usually covers stuff like this. So aside from my deductible, the related repair costs were all taken care of. It’s good to know my insurance is doing its job.

About to graduate and buying his first car
I guess it was just supposed to be a prank, but last semester somebody covered my car in “washable” paint, whatever that is.
Of course it wasn’t washable and actually counted as vandalism. My Comprehensive coverage reimbursed me for the repairs less my deductible, so it all worked out okay.
