I only drive a few months each year. Can I get auto insurance just for those months?
There are a couple of factors at work when it comes to this auto insurance question.
1. Whose car are you driving?
Driving your own car has different insurance implications than simply being listed as a driver on someone else's policy.
2. What state do you live in?
Auto insurance requirements are different from state to state. If you live in a state that requires insurance on any vehicle you own, you'll need to keep your policy current for as long as you own your car.
Keep in mind, too, that it may actually be more expensive to regularly start and stop an auto insurance policy than to keep it continuously.
All in all, the answer depends on the details of your particular situation. Be sure to
talk to your insurance agent
, so you can feel confident that you're making the right decision about your coverage.
