Little Bit of History

The state of Oregon encompasses 98,466 square miles and is ranked 9th in the nation's total area. It was the 33rd state to enter the union on February 14, 1859. The origin of the name Oregon is unknown. One theory is the name came from an engraver's error in a French map mentioning a river flowing to the west named Ouaricon.
