California Graduated Driver Licensing

California has its own variation of Graduated Driver Licensing, and they are one of the few things that have been proven to save teen lives. You and your teen should become familiar with California laws, and at the very least, you should use these laws to form the baseline for the rules you set for your teen driver.

	Minimum Entry Age (Optimal: 16)			15, 6 mo

	Extended Learner Period (Optimal: at least 6 months)			Has optimal provision

	Parent Certification (Optimal: 30 hours minimal)			Has optimal provision

	Night Restriction (Optimal: 9 or 10 p.m.)			Has the provision but it is not optimal

	Passenger Restriction (Optimal: only 1 non-family member)			Has optimal provision
